My dad, who is 82, actually flew one of these when he was in his late teens/early twenties. His step-father was a pilot for Island Airlines on Put-in-Bay back in the 50's, and my dad had his learners pilot license and was allowed to fly this crate when it was loaded with freight. Compared with my dad, my early adulthood was really, really boring.

My dad had his pilot’s license by 14. He also worked as a family practice physician for 60 hours per week while farming 150 acres, raising hogs and cattle, building a house and a barn, restoring antique John Deeres and Studebakers all while raising three kids. What the Hell am I doing with my life? lol
